Frequently Asked Questions
What style of dance does this team perform?
This year our team is performing the categories of Kick, Military, Pom, and Hip Hop. In the state of Washington competition category options include Kick, Military, Pom, Hip Hop, Dance, and Show. We currently compete in Military, Kick, and Pom!
How long is the Dance Team season?
The regular dance season begins in May and ends in late February of 2024. If we qualify for post season competition, the 2023-24 Dance Team season will end following the State Championships, March 25, 2024. We will take the month of April off and then prepare for the next season beginning in May.
Do you compete nationally?
YES, but not every year. Nationals requires extra fundraising to cover competition and travel expenses. We are looking to partner with local businesses to help us get to our next nationals competition. Please reach out to our coach for information about partnering with us.
What skills should I be working on?
No experience is necessary to join our team! We can teach you what you need to know. A general understanding of dance technique can be very beneficial. The competition team requires front splits, extensions, a pirouette, and good kick, military, and pom technique among other things; but these elements are not required to tryout. Many of our dancers work on these skills over the summer so they are ready for competition season by the end of summer.
